The Avengers is an upcoming American superhero film produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures1, based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. It is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which crosses over several Marvel superhero films including Iron Man (2008), The Incredible Hulk (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2011) and Captain America: The First Avenger (2011). The film is written and directed by Joss Whedon and features an ensemble cast, which includes Robert Downey, Jr.Chris EvansMark RuffaloChris HemsworthScarlett JohanssonJeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson. In The AvengersNick Fury, director of the peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D., recruits Iron ManHulk,Thor, and Captain America to save the world from destruction.

Development of The Avengers began when Marvel Studios received a grant from Merrill Lynch in April 2005. After the success of the film Iron Man in May 2008, Marvel announced that The Avengers would be released in July 2011. With the signing ofScarlett Johansson in March 2009, the film was pushed back for a 2012 release. Whedon was brought on board in April 2010 and rewrote the screenplay that was originally written by Zak Penn. Production began in April 2011 in AlbuquerqueNew Mexico, before moving to ClevelandOhio and New York City. The film entered post-production at the conclusion of filming in September 2011.

The Avengers is scheduled for release on May 4, 2012 in the United States.

The Amazing Spider-Man

The Amazing Spider-Man is an upcoming American superhero film based on the comic book of the same name that is currently in post-production. It is the fourth Columbia Pictures film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man and the first film in a rebooted Spider-Man film franchise. The film is being directed by Marc Webb. The cast includes Andrew Garfield as Peter ParkerEmma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors. The film will portray Peter Parker as he is developing his super powers in high school. It is scheduled to be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on July 3, 2012.

X-Men: First Class

X-Men: First Class is an upcoming American superhero film, directed by Matthew Vaughn, based on the characters appearing in Marvel Comics. The film is the fifth installment of the X-Men film series and a prequel to the first three movies. X-Men: First Class is scheduled for release on June 3, 2011.

The film, set during the 1960s, will focus on the relationship between Professor X and Magneto and the origin of their groups, the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants. The film stars James McAvoy as Professor X and Michael Fassbender as Magneto. It also stars Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw, the antagonist of the movie. Other cast members include January JonesRose ByrneJennifer Lawrence and Lucas Till. The film is mostly being shot in England and parts of the United States. Fox envisions this film as the first in a new trilogy.

The film is a prequel to the first three movies,[2] set during the 1960s, with John F. Kennedy as president of the United States. X-Men: First Class parallels the history of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X. The villains of the film will be the Hellfire Club.[3] The plot is as follows:

“Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.”[4]

Singer tried to cast Taylor Lautner in a role, but the actor was unavailable due to other commitments.[27]
